NYE Reflections

NEW YEAR'S EVE- REFLECTIONS AND HOPES FOR 2015

Well since Anelia has done her fantastic post on NYE, I'd thought of course I'd put across my thoughts. NYE for me is always a difficult one, I tend to prefer the excitement of Christmas rather than NYE and like most people, I make resolutions and nine times out of ten, I never follow through!

However this year I know I really actually will follow through, as I've tried to make my resolutions more realistic so I know I can actually meet them.

Enjoy not spending money.

Now this simply means that I am going to learn to enjoy window shopping! 2014 has been a year where I have literally spent and not thought about it. I, like most people have brought things with every intentions of wearing it or using and the return date passes and the labels are still on and its still unworn/un-used. This statement represents at least half of my wardrobe!
I need to learn that just because I am going into town it doesn't mean I need to spend money!

Save more than spend.

Having just booked a holiday of a lifetime to New York in June, I know I am going to need to also learn to save rather spend. I am not afraid to admit that I am not a good saver, I am an impulsive buyer so I need to learn to curb my habits. I am going invest in what's known as the '52 -Week challenge' every week you put money in a jar or in the bank and you save for the whole year, so for the first week you put in £1, the second week you put in £2 and so on and so forth. Now obviously if your not a full time worker you can put in whatever you can afford but I'm going to really try and stick to it! (I'll include the link and table at the bottom of the post so you can all see for yourself)

Get rid of the deadwood.

2015 for me is going to be about letting go, I will be letting go of all the dead wood in my life. I am simply not going to have people in my life who will continue to drag me down, I want people to want  to be in my life and I really don't want any more drama/negativity than necessary so I'm afraid some people will have to go.

Be more positive.

I am naturally a negative person, I do tend to see the worst in everything so 2015 will all be about me being a more positive person. I will try not let everything affect me and bring me down, I need to be more positive and hopefully a more happier person.

Less procrastination, more work.

I am now in my second year of my PhD and I really need to step up my game. PhD's are hard work and sometimes its a struggle especially when you're working too. But this year I will really try to push myself more and enjoy my PhD and hopefully this time next year I will be in the best position I can be.

So here's my little resolutions! I hope whatever resolutions our readers set, you are all successful in ! and a Happy New Year to you all!

RESOLUTIONS, DETOX & FASHION

January 1st is less than 24 hours away, which means it is time to reflect on all that the year has meant to us and consider what awaits us in the year that lurks around the corner.

The start of a new year also marks that monumental task of forging New Years resolutions of which I have never been too keen - Probably because I seem to break them within the first 48 hours. However, this time, I am determined to start 2015 differently, because this time I hold high exceptions for what lies ahead for me. I am hoping that next year will mark; the purchase of my first flat, the beginnings of my career in fashion, and travel....lots of travel.

With these new adventures ahead I have been inspired to make some new year resolutions and wanted  to share them with you.

Weight Loss
Oh yes.. If you were to look at the poll of most popular NY resolutions I am sure this one would win hands down at every opportunity. This is something I have needed to get serious about for a long time and not just for the pure vanity of it but for my overall health. So this year I will be taking this seriously and look forward to the obligatory new wardrobe that will have to be purchased as a result.

Love My Friends So Much More
I have always been notorious for being bad at making an effort with friends, i.e. responding to texts  a week later or only meeting up once a month. However this year I have really come to understand the friendships in my life a lot more and have understood how important my relationships with people are. So this year I want to be around for my friends a lot more  than times past and create more memories with them.

Adopt The Less Is More Attitude
My wardrobe seems to have gained a few sartorial pounds this year and I am horrified to say that most of my garments still have the labels on or have never been warn. So next year I'm starting my fashion detox and riding myself of all the unnecessary and poorly judged fashion splurges and adopting the less is more ideology by buying a few higher end staple pieces to mix and match with the odd - and let me stress, "sensibly thought out", purchases I will make along the year.

Work Harder
I'm done with complacency and laziness. For me, 2015 is the year when hard work and determination will take hold. I hope that in 2015 my blog will grow and that I will land my first job in the fashion industry.

Here is a cheers to all of our followers and readers. We wish you a happy New Year and  good luck with all of your NY resolutions.

HUNT OF THE WEEK CHRISTMAS PARTY EDIT

The high street population is growing, I’m pondering about whether my dad would prefer Prada cufflinks or Savoy Tailors Suit Jacket, and of course trying to plan my wardrobe edit for the events that lay ahead. Yep, that’s right Christmas is around the corner and despite the anxiety surrounding the Christmas shopping that lies ahead, we can at least, welcome a procession of events and parties that will provide a perfect excuse for sequins, glitter and excess.

For this week “Hunt of the week” I have sourced high street and designer brands to hunt down sparkly dresses, textured hemlines, a classic tuxedo suit and bejewelled accessories.

CURVY KATE SS15 PREVIEW

Last Friday in Brick Lane, London’s capital of cool, we marked a moment in history, as it signified the first event that we had been invited to as fashion bloggers.

We were hosted by the team at luxurious lingerie brand, Curvy Kate, in intimate space within the urban district at the Canvas building who had invited us to the debut of the SS15 launch.

The collection was full of seasonal hues, like rose pinks, celeste blue and corn flower yellows to name  a few. The designs themselves were refreshing in the sense that they did not replicate the archetypal “hazardously ugly” types that are usually referred to the well-endowed women. The fabrics were delicate and romantic with uses of silks, chiffons and lace and once again reiterated that just because you have a fuller bust does not mean you cannot be sexy.

Whilst at the event I was given the opportunity to have a fitting as the PR felt that my bra simply was not doing the best for me. I must say I was sceptical as the sizes that she was suggesting seemed rather “small” for my figure. However I was utterly surprised when her recommendations absolutely revolutionised the silhouette of my "upper half". The bra was extremely comfortable and almost felt as if I was wearing nothing at all – not something I felt since I was in my training bra some 12 years ago.

This brand has made an impression on me and changed the way I will look at bras again. The brand accommodates women with a cup size from D – K, so I would recommend that you try out some of their current styles and see how it fits you.

Thank you curvy Kate for a fantastic night, we can’t wait for the next one!
